Background The Lawrence Day School is a child care service that has been in existence since 1981. Because the needs of families vary in relation to young children the Lawrence Day School offers a total child care service by providing care for young children, and school camp programs for older children.
We believe that parents are the most influential teachers of their young children, and it is a community responsibility to strengthen and support the family in its role as the child’s primary educator.
Program The Lawrence Day School offers a development program accredited by The National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) for children 3 months through 5 years. The program is designed to help develop the individual child; physically, emotionally, socially and intellectually. It is geared toward the individual child, taking into consideration each child’s family life and developmental level. Children are introduced into a educationally prepared environment which offers practical and cognitive challenges to their mental and physical development. Teachers and caregivers provide lots of love and personal guidance. Each child is allowed to progress at his/her own level and rate. All children in addition to the basic program, are provided with a full academic program encompassing a curriculum above that found in the surrounding area.
